1️⃣ Describing People

Physical Features: How Do We Describe People?

Start with physical attributes:
👀 Eyes: Color, shape (e.g., almond-shaped, round, narrow)
💇 Hair: Length, color, texture (e.g., curly, straight, shoulder-length, dark brown)
👃 Nose: Size and shape (e.g., pointed, flat, hooked)
📏 Height & Build: (e.g., tall, short, athletic, chubby, slim)
🧑 Skin tone: (e.g., fair, olive, freckled, sun-kissed)

🔍 Activity: Expand Your Vocabulary
Give three alternative words for each of the following:

  1. Weight: _______________, _______________, _______________
  2. Height: _______________, _______________, _______________
  3. Looks: _______________, _______________, _______________

Personality & Character

Beyond appearance, we describe how people act:
😃 Cheerful, kind, confident, adventurous
😠 Rude, impatient, moody, arrogant
🤣 Funny, outgoing, talkative, witty
💭 Tip: Look up new words in a dictionary and find synonyms to expand your vocabulary!

🔹 Grammar Focus: Verb “To Be”
Use: I am, he/she is, they are, we are
Example: She is friendly and outgoing. He is quiet but intelligent.

🗣️ Practice 1: Role-Play Conversations
1️⃣ Describing a Celebrity on the Phone

  • Imagine you’re describing Angelina Jolie to a friend who doesn’t know her.
  • Write a short conversation using at least three descriptive sentences.
  • Practice speaking in pairs!

Example:
A: “Do you know Angelina Jolie?”
B: “Not really. What does she look like?”
A: “She has long, dark brown hair and striking blue eyes. She’s very elegant and slim.”
B: “Oh! I think I know who she is now!”

When describing places, be specific and detailed. Instead of saying:
“The Eiffel Tower is big and made of metal.”

📦 How Do We Describe Objects?
When describing things, consider:
🔸 Texture: soft, rough, smooth, bumpy
🔸 Shape: round, oval, square, rectangular
🔸 Size: tiny, huge, medium-sized
🔸 Color & Material: metallic, wooden, transparent

🔍 Practice 4: Synonyms & Antonyms
Match three synonyms and antonyms for each:

Write about a terrible experience:

  • Where was it?
  • Why was it awful?
  • Would you recommend it?

📌 Practice 6: Sell It Like a Tour Agent!
Now, rewrite your description as if you’re promoting it to tourists!
Example: “This charming, quiet town offers a unique experience for those seeking an adventure off the beaten path!”
