Looking for an engaging ESL board game that helps students practice adverbs of frequency in a fun, interactive way? This “How Often Do You…?” board game is perfect for group speaking practice and builds fluency in asking and answering frequency-based questions!
📝 How to Play
👥 Group Setup:
- Divide the class into groups of four.
- Give each group a board game printout, a dice, and a counter for each player.
🎲 Game Rules:
1️⃣ Players take turns rolling the dice and moving their counter forward.
2️⃣ When a player lands on a question square, the student to their right asks them a “How often do you…?” question.
- Example: How often do you watch TV?
3️⃣ The player must answer correctly, using an adverb of frequency, such as: - I usually watch TV in the evenings.
- I hardly ever watch TV because I’m too busy with homework.
4️⃣ If the player answers correctly, they stay on the square.
5️⃣ If the player makes a mistake, they move back to their previous square.
6️⃣ The first player to reach the finish line wins the game!
📌 Optional Challenge:
- To increase difficulty, have players explain their answers in more detail.
- Example: I rarely eat fast food because I prefer to cook at home.
