Clothes & Accessories (Free ESL Board Game Activity)
In this educational board game, students match words with drawings of clothes and accessories.
Preparation:
Before class, make one copy of the board and cards for each pair of students. Cut the cards as indicated.
Procedure:
- Split the class into pairs (A and B).
- Give each pair a copy of the board and a set of cards. Tell them to place the cards face down in a pile in front of them.
- Students take it in turns to pick up a card. Then, they write the word on the card under the correct drawing. Students also write A or B after the word so they know who wrote it.
- Tell the students not to tell their partner if they see that they have written the wrong word under a drawing because they are competing to get the highest score.
- Students can write more than one word under each drawing, but only one will be correct when they check the answers at the end.
- When the pairs have gone through all the cards, check the answers with the class.
- Students score one point for each word they placed correctly and lose one point for each word that is in the wrong place.
- The students add up their scores to see which student (A or B) won in each pair. Also, find out which student had the highest score in the class.
