How to use this dictionary
At the beginning of the book there are topic pages. These include lots of useful words on a particular subject, such as Pets and In the park. Each word has its translation and help on how to pronounce it. The words on the topic pages can be found in the English A–Z and in the French A–Z. There are lots of other useful words here, too. The verbs section can be found after the A–Zs. At the back of the book there is a list of useful phrases for you to practise your French with your friends. There is information after each English word to show you what type of word it is. This will help you to make sentences. In French, nouns (naming words) are either masculine (m) or feminine (f). If the French word has un/le before it, it is masculine; if it has une/la, it is feminine. Nouns that are plural have des/les before them.
