Warm up
Story starters
Get students to think of a story using the interactive prompt
Activity 1
Pass the bomb: Word types
Get students to say different word types and pass the ‘bomb’ around. Write up the words they said afterwards and complie lists on the board. Word types to write: Adjectives/Describing words, Colours, Nouns/Things, Animals, Verbs/Action words (include -ing verbs and past tense), Adverbs, Days of the weeks, Months of the year, Locations/Places, Names (people)Family members, Feelings/Emotions, Drinks/Liquids, Clothing, Activities, School subjects. |
Activity 2
Writing prompts: Fill in the blanks
Get students to fill in their own writing prompts using the words written on the board. Let each student choose their own worksheet. |
Activity 3
Horror Prompts
Get students to write up their own stories using the picture prompts. Let them stick eyes and speech bubbles to them afterwards. Correct words as necessary. |
Activity 4
Story generator
Click on the button and play the game. Get students to choose the criteria, then generate a story and ask students to fill it in. Write what the students say on the board. |
