How Often Do You…?

How Often Do You…?

How Often Do You…?

Want to get your students talking while reinforcing adverbs of frequency? This interactive Find Someone Who… activity is a fantastic way to practice question formation, improve speaking confidence, and encourage student interaction!

How to Play

📌 Step 1: Prepare the Activity

  • Download and print the free “Find Someone Who” worksheet (PDF) for each student.
  • Review adverbs of frequency with the class and write examples on the board:
    • always, usually, often, sometimes, occasionally, rarely, hardly ever, never
    • every day, once a week, twice a month, etc.

📌 Step 2: Asking and Answering Questions

  • Go over the worksheet prompts and elicit the correct “How often do you…?” questions.
  • Model the activity with a volunteer before students begin.

📌 Step 3: Classroom Interaction

  • Students move around the room, asking classmates questions to find someone who matches each prompt.
  • When they find a match, they write down their classmate’s name and a follow-up detail (e.g., Where do you usually eat out?).
  • Rule: Each student’s name can only appear once—this ensures they talk to many classmates!

📌 Step 4: Class Discussion & Feedback

  • Once everyone is finished, students share their findings with the class.
  • Discuss interesting discoveries and encourage follow-up conversations.
  • Option: Instead of “How often do you…?”, students can use present simple “Do you…?” questions (e.g., Do you sometimes eat in a restaurant?).
