- What is a community.
- Teamwork.
- Why people work together.
- How people work together.
Model
Ask children: Why are so many hands holding the trophy? (They worked together to win it). Why is working together a good idea? (get things done, make friends). Ask children: When do you work together? (playing sports, cleaning up, painting, building things, etc.). Say: By working together, we can accomplish many things. Big tasks become smaller tasks because of teamwork. Teamwork teaches people to get along and also helps build strong friendships. What teams are you a part of? (answers will vary).
Apply
Have children play the games that follow. Have them discuss with their partner the different topics that appear during the Talk About It feature. After the first game, ask children to talk about how to work together. After the second game, have them discuss how they can be a better teammate.
Close
Ask children: Do you think teammates agree on everything? Explain. Say: Working together means that everyone listens to each other and then makes a decision together. Sometimes not everyone agrees but by working together, you can find a way to make everyone happy. Think about a time when your team didn’t agree on something and how they came to a decision.
