True or False Game!

True or False Game!

Make reviewing adverbs of frequency engaging and interactive with this fun truth-or-lie activity! Perfect for pre-intermediate ESL students, this game helps learners practice common and less frequent adverbial phrases in a creative way.

🔹 How to Play

👥 Pair Up & Prepare

  • Divide students into pairs.
  • Give each pair:
✅ A set of adverb cards (e.g., always, sometimes, every now and again, once in a while).
✅ A set of subject cards (e.g., My best friend, My teacher, My parents).
Pen and paper for writing sentences.

🎯 Game Steps
1️⃣ Shuffle both sets of cards and place them face down.
2️⃣ First student picks one card from each pile and creates a sentence using both (e.g., “My brother rarely helps me with homework.”).
3️⃣ The student then writes the sentence down—but they can choose to make it true or false!
4️⃣ The next student repeats the process, making their own sentence.
5️⃣ Once all cards are used, pairs team up with another pair.
6️⃣ Taking turns, one student reads out a sentence, and the other pair must guess if it’s true or false.
7️⃣ Correct guess = 1 point / Wrong guess = other pair gets 1 point.
8️⃣ The pair with the most points wins! 🎉
