Lesson Plan: Guess Who: Personality Traits Edition

Introduction (10 minutes):
  1. Start the lesson by discussing the concept of personality traits. Ask students to share some personality traits they can think of (e.g., funny, shy, outgoing, adventurous).
  2. Introduce the “Guess Who: Personality Traits Edition” and explain that they will be playing a modified version of the classic “Guess Who” game to guess characters based on their personality traits.

Activity 1: “Guess Who Game” (20 minutes):

Provide each student with a game board (either printed “Guess Who” boards or a template you’ve created) and character cards (with personality traits).

Divide the class into pairs or small groups and explain the rules of the game:

  • Each student selects a character card without showing it to their partner.
  • Students take turns asking yes/no questions about the personality traits of their partner’s character.
  • They eliminate characters on their game board based on the responses until they can make an educated guess about the partner’s character.

Play a few rounds to ensure students understand the game.

Activity 2: “Describing Personality Traits” (15 minutes)

Transition to a PowerPoint presentation that covers various personality traits. Include definitions, synonyms, and example sentences for each trait.

Engage the class by discussing scenarios where different personality traits might be useful or challenging.

Conclusion (5 minutes):

Summarize the key personality traits discussed during the lesson and highlight the importance of understanding and respecting the diversity of personalities.

Provide a link for students to download the PowerPoint presentation and printable character cards for further practice.

Homework:

Assign students to write a short paragraph describing a fictional character with a unique personality trait, and to bring it to the next class for discussion

Assessment:

Assess students based on their participation in the game, their ability to describe personality traits accurately, and their engagement in class discussions.
